On Friday, September 14, 2018, the Coalition of Concerned Youth of Ghana comprising of mainly the youth of Kasoa took to the streets to demonstrate heavily against the closure of Menzgold. According to the group, since the Menzgold came into operation, most of them have been benefiting from the company through their gold deposits and they don’t see anything wrong with the way the company operates.
The group through its leaders stated categorically that, they don’t want to use violent means to express their frustration about the situation, hence, the peaceful demonstration to appeal to the appropriate authorities to rescind their decision.
Ghanaian filmmaker, John Frimpong Kennedy stated he has benefitted numerously from Menzgold because he has been able to take money from the Zylofon Art fund established by Nana Appiah Mensah, to successfully complete his latest movie production and doesn’t see why authorities have decided to close one of the Nana Appiah Mensah’s company.
