Alicia Keys To Host 2019 Grammy Awards

Alicia Keys will host the 61st Annual Grammy Awards, which are set to air live on CBS February 10th at 8 p.m. ET.

Keys announced the news with a short behind-the-scenes documentary, which opens with the moment when she received the phone call offering her the hosting gig. The clip also captures Keys sharing the news with her husband, Swizz Beats, and her two young kids, one of whom offers the confused response, “What’s the Grammys?”

The video also follows Keys as she shoots her first promo for the show, and it closes with her discussing why she was so excited to accept the job. “I know what it feels like to be on that stage, and I know what it feels like to be proud of the work that you’ve put in, and to be recognized for it,” Keys said. “I just feel grateful that I’m able to bring that light and that energy. This is a first – it’s a first, and it’s amazing, and I think it’s perfect timing. Honestly, I’m really excited, I feel really good about it, because I feel like it’s the perfect opportunity for me to give the light back, lift people up, especially all the young women that are nominated.”

Keys has won 15 Grammys over the course of her career, picking up her most recent trophy, Best R&B Album for Girl on Fire, in 2014. In 2002, she famously won Best New Artist while her breakout hit “Fallin’” picked up three awards, including Song of the Year.

Keys released her latest album, Here, in 2016.

For some time now, the inundation of foreign genres took a bit of shine away from this authentic Ghanaian music genre called Highlife, many tried to pull it back, some succeeded, some were left with no life, hence gave up too early.

With his latest album Made In Ghana is the talk of the town for its organic composition, arrangement, delivery, and a huge military salute to Highlife music, the Ghanaian musician who has spent over 20-years in the music industry is using this beautiful well-crafted project to send a signal of hope and life in Highlife music.

Okyeame recruited a tall list of both the newest faces on the music scenes like Kidi, Kuame Eugene, Feli Nuna, Wiyaala and the old faces like Wutah Afriyie plus more to serve the best on the project. At the launch concert on Saturday, April 20, 2019, at +233 Jazz Bar and Grill located right in the heart of the city of Accra, Okyeame brought on stage all these acts to perform and help sell CDs of the album packaged so nicely, graced by music enthusiasts from all walks of life.

The beauty of this project is, it celebrates and represents the true nature of Ghanaian music from all the regions in the country. Even though we continue to nod our heads to different genres, Highlife music is still in our DNA and the Made In Ghana album is a resounding reminder from Okyeame Kwame that Highlife is can never be over.

Footsteps Ghana Is Hunting For The Next-Rated Female Musical Talent: Lady With The Mic

Female empowerment brand, Footsteps Ghana has announced its official talent hunt program dubbed Lady With The Mic. The brand draws its core values from creativity and diversity, hence putting in place the necessary structure and platforms to unearth the next big female musician from Ghana to the world.

Footsteps is teaming up with a recognized label like BBNZ and music distribution and marketing portal such as Aftown to prepare a wholesome package for the winner of the maiden edition. Also, an additional mouthwatering package is the chance for the winner to grace one of the biggest musical stages in the United Kingdom, Ghana Party In The Park. A festival organized for Ghanaians and other Africans living in the United Kingdom with big-name acts, the festival has a track record of exposing African entertainers to the UK audience.

At the launch on April 16, 2019, at the premises of BBNZ headquarters in Accra, Footsteps Ghana gave the criteria to qualify one for the audition as starting from age 16 and above, two auditions have already been held with more to roll out in the coming weeks. Keche Pens Managerial Deal With Golden Empire Legacy – A Career Booster

Often at times, the challenge for most musicians is the availability of money to execute the various project they have in mind both short and long term.

Music duo, Keche, a composition of Joshua Kojo Ampah and Andrew Kofi Cudjoe can let go a huge sigh of relief after the group penned a two year managerial deal with Golden Empire Legacy, a company founded and operated by Joana Gyan.

The aspect of the contract revealed to the gathering of media executives, pressmen and the business people from the business industry include, the company handling over a cash amount of 500,000 Ghana Cedis, one brand new Elantra cars to each member of the group and also two three-bedroom houses.

Speaking to the group after the signing, with a lot of excitement written all over their faces, both Joshua and Andrew were emphatic in their submission, stating the deal will go a long way to help carter for the several unreleased projects they have in their warehouse. Also, help stage international shows that will expose the brand more to Africa and the rest of the world.

Nothing really changed from their previous management as the head of George Britton Records, George Britton will continue to handle their day-to-day activities but, will now have to work under Golden Empire Legacy.
