Captain of the Black Stars Asamoah Gyan has announced his retirement and officially hanged his boot in a press statement released on May 20, 2019.
In the press statement, Asamoah detailed his commitment to the National Team from his first call up till date and all the coaches he has worked with over the years including the current one, Kwesi Appiah.
He thanked President Nana Akufo-Addo and the people of Ghana for the support throughout his time with the Black Stars. However, he has promised to serve the nation in other fields when the need arise.
