Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has officially launched the 2020 Memphis In May International Festival.
The annual festival takes place in Memphis, Tennessee to foster a viable relationship between Ghana and the city of Memphis in the United States. Therefore, the 44th edition was launched at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration office in Accra on March 13th to brief the media on the tall list of activities for the entire festival.
Memphis In May International Festival will be used to extensively promote Ghana’s art and culture, tourism, cuisine, made-in-Ghana goods and many other things associated with the country in May. The entire month is dedicated to the celebration of Ghana in Memphis, hence providing the avenue for the aforementioned promotions to be done.
Also, activities lined up for the festival will cover the area of education, culture, entertainment – pushing Ghanaian music in the city using musicians such Sarkodie, Stonebwoy Kidi and Kuami Eugene – and more aiming at promoting Ghana on a larger scale within Memphis.
Representatives from the festival were present at the launch, and Ghana’s Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Honourable Mohammed Habibu Tijani, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Ziblim Iddi and also heads of Ghana Tourism Authority led by Akwasi Agyeman.
