Fashion Connect Africa Fashion Week ’21 was an all-out grand show to say the very least. According to international model/Entrepreneur and Founder of Fashion Connect Africa Miss Victoria Michaels, this second edition is a continuing story of the amazing African creativity which began in 2019 at our maiden edition.
This year’s event with the theme – The Future of Fashion – “Sustainability and Technology” started with the Business of Fashion Dialogue, a partnership between FCA and Deloitte Africa to help the industry focus forward and position for global industry changes. Speaking at the Forum, Mrs Abena Biney – Partner and Consumer Business Leader at Deloitte Ghana reiterated the need for the creative industry to embrace new ways of work and be more technology compliant for improved service delivery. The well-attended forum had an A-list of industry leaders including Madam Renee Neblett – Founder, Kokrobitey Institute, Yvonne Ntiamoah – Chairperson of Fashion Ghana, Clara Pinkrah Sam – CEO, Clatural and Sammy Oteng – Director at the OR Foundation.
The one-of-a-kind fashion showcase held at the plush Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, Accra featured 17 established and emerging designers on the runway such as MOD, Clatural, Kokude, Paon, MMH, Masantewa handmade accessories etc. It was an unforgettable evening of fashion, entertainment and cocktails. The event was attended by senior government functionaries, diplomats, business leaders, creatives, industry stakeholders, fashion enthusiasts and members of the media.
This year’s event which left a major imprint on the Ghana Fashion ecosystem was sponsored by GTP, OSTEC, Mcvities, Woodin, Coca Cola, Deloitte, Goldcard, Melcom, Uber, AWA, Leasafric and Air Brussels. It also shows that Fashion Connect Africa’s platform is creating value for both Ghana and the continent’s creatives.
