Former Man Utd Flops Could Make Surprising Return After Buy-Back Clauses Are Revealed

Former Manchester United flops Adnan Januzaj and Memphis Depay could reportedly make a return to Old Trafford after it was revealed that they have buy-back clauses in their contracts.

The attacking duo left Old Trafford in 2017, with academy graduate Januzaj moving to Spanish side Real Sociedad and Depay making a £16m switch to Lyon in France.

Now, the Sun claims that United inserted buy-back clauses in both their deals and the duo’s return to form could potentially see them moving back to Manchester.

It is said Jose Mourinho has not ruled out re-signing Dutch winger Depay, with the Portuguese coach praising his revival back in September.

Depay recently fired his national side to the finals of the newly-formed UEFA Nations League when he scored against World Cup champions France on home soil.

In Ligue 1, the 24-year-old has played 17 games in all competitions for Bruno Génésio’s side, finding the back of the net on six occasions and providing the same amount of assists.

For Januzaj, he failed to live up to expectations after scoring two stunning goals during the early part of his career at Old Trafford, but he is beginning to find his feet in La Liga.

A knee injury at the start of the season has resulted in the Belgian playing only three games this term, but his performances during the previous campaign did earn him a place in Roberto Martinez’s World Cup squad in the summer.

During their time at Old Trafford, both Januzaj and Depay played over 50 games for the club, but they only scored 12 goals between them.
