Festival celebration in Ghana is part of a long rich history which every region of the country take seriously, each year, Chiefs and key traditional rulers gather indigenes from their communities to participate in the celebration to honour the ancestors and pray for a fruitful year ahead.
The 2018 Hogbetsotso Festival, annual festival by the chiefs and people of Angloga in the Volta region of Ghana was brought to life by several of funded activities which included health walks, huge grand durbar, football competition, presentation of cheques to the traditional rulers, Agbaza dance competition, partnering renowned rapper, Edem for his Edem Fest 2018 at the Aborigines Beach (Keta), the list goes on.
This year’s festival was under the theme – Shoring up our cultural Capital: Uniting in Commonwealth and Resolve. The grand durbar attracted the high profile personalities like Former President John Dramani Mahama, Togbe Afede XIV and more, a platform used by the chiefs and people showcase the centuries of traditional heritage to the world. During the night, thousands of people converged at the Aborigines Beach to witness performances from their favourite musicians including E.L Stonebwoy, Obibini, and the headline act, Edem – who used the festival to preach against illegal sand mining and also the best sanitation practices that will keep the region clean always.
