On Saturday, October 6, 2018, the biggest telecommunication company in Ghana, arguably, brought together giants in the gospel fraternity within Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa – three countries connected to worship in God in unison at the spacious Fantasy Dome, Trade Fair Accra, the concert was christened MTN Stands In Worship 2018.
Pastor Joe Beecham ushered all attendees into the worship mood with back to back songs which received backing from both the choir and every single individual in the dome, he was followed by Eugene Zuta who kept the worship pace. Soon after, Koda came on stage, he solicited for help from the crowd to help him sing his old classic gospel hits and then the new songs, which they did and he once again showed his prowess on the guitar with a perfect vocal delivery.
It was the time of Obaapa Christy – known for increasing the tempo with her powerful praises, and she didn’t fail at that as she got people on their feet dancing to all the songs she played, Yaa Sarpong, Celestine Donkor followed shortly. Nigeria’s Sammie Okposo thrilled the crowd, and, then introduced Vodafone Ghana Music Awards artist of the Year, Joe Mettle, he got a standing ovation, fetching no filtering as flipped the chapter. South Africa’s Patrick Duncan closed the chapter with strong worship performance including the fans’ favourite, Phindukhulume.
