According to Mr. Afunya Kofi Daniel, the Events Manager of SBN who was speaking at the event, the launch also marks the beginning of nominations. He said there are forty categories in all including 33 main awards and 7 honorary awards. The Events Manager who also seemed very enthused about the award and was optimistic about its success mentioned that the award whose first edition is built on the theme: Milestone Celebration would become the first ever award scheme in Ghana to truly bring all tertiary institutions under one great umbrella for the celebration of excellence in diverse aspects of student’s endeavor. He also ceased the opportunity to call on cooperate bodies, the media, individuals and groups to support this initiative.
As part of plans to increase nationwide knowledge of the event, there would be a media tour to major radio stations across the nation. According to him, some of the regional coordinators have already visited Radio G.I.J 97.7mhz, Radio Windy Bay 98.3mhz, Rich Fm 104.7 mhz, NTV, pending several others to be visited by the coordinators and the events team. Nominations however begin from Monday, 25th June, 2018 15:00 GMT through to 31st July, 2018.
INTER-TERTIARY EXCELLENCE AWARDS (ITEA)
Showbiz Network Ghana (SBN) presents INTER-TERTIARY EXCELLENCE AWARDS (ITEA) under the Theme: MILESTONE CELEBRATION.
The goal of the ITEA is to acknowledge the achievements of exceptional Tertiary Students in the country making significant impact in Ghana. ITEA also seeks to promote positive youth development by inspiring young people to achieve greater heights and to know that good achievements are recognized and appreciated.
ITEA has been divided into three belts to capture all the ten(10) regions of Ghana. The Middle Belt will comprises of Central ,Ashanti and Western Regions. The Northern Belt comprises Upper East, Upper West, Northern and Brong Ahafo Regions The Southern Belt comprises of Greater Accra, Eastern and Volta Regions.
Laureates will receive prizes comprising of a winning plaque,a hamper of corporate products and sponsorship packages to help pursue their efforts.
The Inter Tertiary Excellence Awards (ITEA) is accessible to all students in Tertiary Institutions in Ghana duly recognized by National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) under the following blocs:
- The Universities Bloc, University Students Association of Ghana (USAG).
- The Professionals Bloc, Ghana Union of Professional Studies (GUPS).
- The Teacher Training Colleges, Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana(TTAG).

Criteria for nomination
The ITEA for Overall Best Students shall recognize students for the integration of academics. The student will have enriched the University community through a record of Accomplishment and leadership in such are as student life, and community life excellence and other aspects of student lives which may include leadership, community service, sports, arts and entertainment all of which reflect the University’s purposes and priorities. The schools will be contacted for the CGPA of the overall student for each class and afterwards the CGPA’s converted on fair grounds under the Academic Category. The appropriate authorities will be contacted to help with the conversion.

Nominees must have outstanding performance and should be able to prove it with
their transcripts if the need arises.
Best Nursing Student of the Year
Criteria for nomination
ITEA for the category shall recognize student nurses who have proven to have good grip of the technically know-how passed on to them from their institutions. Students who meet the standard requirements of their field for the academic year are the centre of focus.

that have made significant impact on ‘campus life’ shall be honoured.

ITEA for this category recognizes students who have excelled in capturing the hearts and

along in their adventure and colourful imaginations by their writing.

ITEA for this category will recognize creative and outstanding event organizing groups

ITEA for this category is to recognize talented and skilled artiste within our tertiary
institutions. Students Artistes with great dexterity in good stagecraft as well as lovable

student photographers to do so while capturing the overlooked details.

This category of ITEA shall recognize a Female Celebrity who is more likable by tertiary

Criteria for nomination
This category of ITEA shall recognize a Private sector entity which plays a major role in
youth development from the field of academia to the arts and entertainment. Youth
Development requires investing into an individual to be a holistic personality being capable
of critically analyzing every situation and using the available resources to create solutions.
Private sector institutions with a track record of such investments would be honored.
Most Influential Personality
Criteria for nomination
This category of ITEA shall recognize any personality who influences either the social and
cultural life style of tertiary students either by way of music or any other form. Fashion
trends, lifestyle, social and cultural attitudes are mostly influenced by some personalities.
This category honors an individual who has influenced tertiary students in this regard in a
positive way.
Outstanding Lecturer of the Year
Criteria for nomination
The primary criterion for the awards is skill in teaching, outstanding service to students,
and service to the University and to the faculty there are. In the selection of persons to be
nominated for these awards the following criteria are to be used.
Eligibility
Nominees for this award may be either full-time or part-time faculty, in qualified rank,
lecturing at the graduate or undergraduate levels for atleast three years. Graduate
Teaching Assistants are not eligible.
Selection Criteria
- Teaching Techniques and Representative Materials
There must be positive evidence that the candidate performs superbly in the classroom. The
Nominee must maintain a flexible instructional policy which adapts readily to student
needs, interests and problems. Mastery of teaching techniques must be demonstrated and
substantiated. Consideration is to be given to the number of substantially different courses
taught, the number of students per course, and the different teaching techniques employed
in the various courses.
- Professional Growth
Candidates must be abreast of their own field and use the relevant contemporary data
from that field and related disciplines in teaching. Evidence in this area includes but is not
limited to course syllabi, ongoing professional development (conferences ,workshops,
etc.) and may also include publications, grants, presentations at conferences, or artistic
productions.
III. Student Services
In relating to students, candidates must be generous with personal time, easily accessible,
and must demonstrate a continual concern for the intellectual growth of individual
students. The focus here is the accessibility of the nominee to students outside of class,
e.g. office hours, conferences, special meetings, and the nominee’s responsibility in terms
of student advisement.
