In the ever-challenging entertainment industry, winning and maintaining your top spot is among the biggest hurdles faced by acts who have made their marks for decades.
Sarkodie worked his way to the apex of the music chain, a journey that started in the corners of the cosmopolitan communities of Tema in Ghana. Conquering the country with his gracious freestyles and tongue-twisting deliveries, facing the storms directly and then taking his act from Ghana to the world, fetching Black Entertainment Awards, and other laurels for his consistency and fluidity in the rap game for years.
From a rapper to a businessman, looking at all the available windows of opportunity to generate income to fund his career as an independent craft man. He established his own concert franchise dubbed Rapperholic, for an intimate moment with his fans and friends.
The 2019 instalment of the concert was somehow an emotional moment for Sarkodie, as he released his much talked about album titled Black Love just days to the concert. Heavily loaded with collaboration from some of the known names on the continent, including Rudeboy, Efya, Tekno, Maleek Berry, Bisa Kdei, and the new wavemakers, Kidi, King Promise, to mention but a few, he then spiced it with a flair of the United Kingdom, bringing Idris Elba and Donae’o.
Almost all of the collaborators on the album joined him on stage at Rapperholic 2019 drawing loud applause and cheers from the Sarknatives, which even escalated when Prince Bright of Buk Bak fame performed Oofeetsɔ (Skin Pain), an instant hit since its release.
