Second Lady Samira Bawumia Recognized In The States For Her Role In Gender Advocacy, Climate Change And Charity

H.E Mrs Samira Bawumi, Second Lady of the Republic of Ghana has been recognised for her initiatives as a philanthropist, humanitarian, climate and gender advocate by the Atlanta City Council and the Office of the Mayor of Macon-Bibb, Georgia, USA,

The proclamation read that the members of the Atlanta City Council and its citizens recognise among others, the outstanding interventions of Mrs Samira Bawumia that have impacted lives across Ghana and declared, the 14th Day of May as “ Samira Bawumia Day” in Atlanta City.

Notable was Her Excellency’s interventions in the area of maternal and child health through the Samira Empowerment and Humanitarian Projects (SEHP), under the Safe Delivery Initiative.

The Safe Delivery Initiative has distributed over 6000 birth kits to expectant mothers in the North East / East Gonja Municipalities; drastically reducing maternal and neonatal mortality, increasing antenatal care and promoting postnatal care in the area.
