For over a decade now, the Stacy Foundation has been consistent in the care for the homeless and orphans in and out of Ghana. The foundation’s mission is to elevate the downward spirit in the less privileged by reminding them to harbour hope in the midst of virtually nothing.
Led by former Ghanaian beauty queen and video vixen, now philanthropist and author, Stacy Amewoyi, the group works tirelessly to meet the needs of people with less in societies. Earlier this year, the foundation donated items ranging from clothes, drinks, food and more to the homeless in New Jersey in the United States. Imagery and visuals of that spark a few debates on social media, a lot of the comments urged the foundation to replicate similar exercise in Ghana. But, truthfully, the Stacy Foundation has been embarking on several of such donation exercise across Ghana for many years but had fewer media courage (not the fault of the media), just the foundation didn’t reach out.
Stacy Foundation first visited Royal Seed Home, Kasoa and donated foods, used clothes, water and more to the kids who need them for this Christmas season, the season of giving and showcasing of love to each other. In a telephone conversation with Stacy, she hammered on an alarming observation of dying love and care for the needy, which deserves the attention of not just the government and organizations but the entire country. She is of the view that everyone must play a part in providing the enabling condition for the needy; show compassion with the little or the extra available.
The second donation was done outside Accra, in the Asuogyaman District, Eastern Region. A Change in the traditional method of donation, this time Stacy Foundation partnered with traditional leaders of the District to give several items out in the open without necessarily visiting an orphanage home. Since the leaders within the various communities in the District know the people who need help the most.
Stacy Foundation has also established a vocational training centre, working with an expert in various fields to train and equip young girls with skills that can benefit them for many years to come. By so doing, the foundation plans to lessen the pressure of unemployment and take most of these girls off the streets and usher them into a brighter future.
