President Akufo-Addo speaks on Atomic Junction Gas Explosion, promises firm action

The Akufo-Addo administration has launched an investigation into Saturday’s gas explosion at Atomic Junction, a statement from the Minister of Information, Mustapha Hamid, has said.

The statement noted that a firm action will be taken to forestall similar occurrences in the future after investigation into accident is concluded.

“An investigation has commenced into the cause of the explosion and shall be followed with firm action to forestall similar future recurrences,” the statement said.

The statement, which was released shortly after the Vice President visited some of the victims of the gas explosion at the 37 Military Hospital and Police Hospital, put the death toll at seven.

It also said 132 people were injured but 64 of them have been treated and discharged.

The statement said “Any injured persons who may have been evacuated from the scene on their own should kindly inform the Ghana Police Hospital of their location,” the statement said.

MP Kyeremanteng Agyarko Is Dead

Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko has passed on, we have gathered.

The former MP died on Wednesday, 21st November 2018 after a long illness which kept him out of parliamentary duties since September this year.

Mr Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko was born on December 10, 1957, at Odumase Krobo in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

He has held the Ayawaso West Wuogon seat since 2009, succeeding current Chief of Staff Frema Osei Opare as New Patriotic Party’s candidate.

He was a brother to former Minister of Energy Boakye Agyarko.

He held a Bachelor in Pharmacy from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

He worked as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA).

He was married and survived by seven children.

President Akuffo Addo embarks on a 3-day tour of the Western Region from Friday 8th June

The President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has began a 3-day tour of the Western Region today the 8th June, 2018.

He is scheduled to cut the sod for the construction of 24.3 kilometers road from Kojino, Chirano, Etwebo and Akoti in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai district as well as interact with the chiefs and people of Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai and the towns he will be visiting.

The president will on the second day of his tour cut the sod for the construction of 30 kilometers road from Asankragwa in the Amenfi East district.

He will also have a meeting with the chiefs and people of Amenfi East, Amenfi West, Amenfi Central and the Aowin district.

The president is also expected to interact with the chiefs and people of Prestea Huni-Valley, Tarkwa Nsuaem, Mpohor, and Wassa East district at Tarkwa.

On the final day of his tour, the president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will join St. Peters Anglican Church at Akoon in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality and then depart to Ahanta West district to inspect the on-going sea defense wall at Dixcove.

Nana Akufo-Addo will also interact with the chiefs and people of Nzema East, Ellembelle, Jomoro, Ahanta West, Kwesimintsim, Effia, Takoradi, Sekondi, Essikadu-Ketan and Shama at Ahanta West Municipality.

The president as part of his 3-day tour of the western region is also expected to cut the sod for the construction of 16 kilometers road from Kejibir to Mpohor.

Nana Akufo-Addo is scheduled to end his Western Region tour with a sod cutting for the expansion of IBISTEK project at Takoradi Port.
